Mark your calendars! Join us in Zhuhai for a joyful celebration of Sankt Hans, the beloved Danish midsummer tradition.
This year, we're bringing back all the warmth, light, and community spirit of Denmark's summer solstice festivities—right here in China. Whether you're familiar with Danish culture or discovering it for the first time, you, your family, friends, and colleagues are warmly invited to take part in this special evening celebrating the arrival of summer's long, luminous days.
What to Expect:
Traditional Fun: Enjoy classic Danish games, sing-alongs, and heartfelt speeches that honor centuries-old customs.
Burning of the Witch: Witness the iconic bonfire ritual—where a straw witch is burned to symbolically chase away evil spirits and welcome summer's light.
Community & Connection: Meet fellow attendees through inclusive, all-ages activities designed to spark joy and conversation.
A Bit of History:
Sankt Hans has roots stretching back to Viking times, when people lit bonfires to ward off malevolent forces and visited sacred wells believed to have healing powers. While the well-visiting custom has faded, today's celebrations keep the spirit alive with music, food, speeches, and—of course—the glowing midsummer fire.
What to Bring:
Comfortable clothing and footwear for outdoor activities
An umbrella or light raincoat (just in case—Zhuhai weather loves surprises!)
Smart casual evening wear for dinner party
