Understanding the AIIB - DCCC and Nordic Chamber Breakfast Meeting, March 23rd

The DCCC is happy to invite members and other interested parts to this Nordic Chamber breakfast meeting, where Mr. Jesper Segelcke Thomsen will enligthen us on the influence, implications and challenges of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

The AIIB is an international financial institution that aims to support the building of infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region. The bank was proposed by the government of China and has succeeded to get more than 50 founding members, including Denmark, Sweden, Finland. Iceland and Norway.

It is more than one year ago since the AIIB started operations and the DCCC and the Nordic Chambers are excited to invite an expert, Mr. Jesper Segelcke Thomsen, to assess the status of AIIB. Will it be able to fulfill the potentiel? What will AIIB mean for the existing international financial institutions? What will its role be? These are some of the questions that Jesper will touch upon during his presentation.

Jesper Segelcke Thomsen is Chief Advisor in Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He currently act as an advisor at the Board of AIIB and is in this capacity in China on a regular basis to participate in AIIB board meetings. Jesper is an Asia expert with a diverse international background, that includes public affairs, trade and investment promotion, security policy, economic and classic diplomacy as well as development policy. He is Chief Advisor in the department for multilateral cooperation at the MFA. He has served on postings in Japan, Pakistan, Macedonia and Burkina Faso.
