The Danish Young Professionals (YP) are pleased to invite you to our first event of 2019. On Friday March 29th, we have invited Jan Agerholm Høybye, Senior Investment Operations Specialist at the Asia Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB), together with Peter Morling, Programme Analyst at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to come and share with us their insights from working in Beijing at two of the biggest international organisations in the world.

In recent years, China has been taking up more responsibility and seeking more influence globally, especially when it comes to economic development of the world. This has led to an increased cooperation between UNDP and China, where they are working together to implement development projects in developing countries throughout the world. Similarly, it has led China to establish AIIB, a multilateral development bank that aims to support the building of infrastructure around the world.

But what exactly goes on inside these to major international organisations? How are they working to accomplish their grand goals? How are China making use of their foreign aid in international organisations? What role does Denmark play in these organisations? How do Chinese working practices impact the work of these two organisation? And how does a Dane end up working for such an organisation in China? These, and many more questions will be answered by our two speakers on Friday March 29th.

Jan Agerholm Høybye is an experienced civil engineer specialised in water and environment. He has many years of experience in project development and implementation from all over the world, primarily Asia and Africa. Since March 2018, he has been working in AIIB as a project manager focusing on water and environment projects in South-East Asia, and helped develop AIIB's Water Sector Strategy.

Since March 2017, Peter Morling has worked at UNDP China as a Danish-funded Junior Professional Officer (JPO) with UNDP's South-South and Global Development Cooperation team, focusing on China's global engagements in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He previously worked for four years at the United Nations Office for Project Services, in various capacities including project implementation, global partnerships and executive office support.

The event will take place at Joe's Bar & Kitchen in Sanlitun, who has kindly offered happy hour all night and discounts on elected items on the menu throughout the evening. All you need to do is register below so we know how many people to expect.
