Hear perspectives on the ground from players that has been doing business under the Belt & Road initiative when we look at cases from around the world

Much has happened since the Belt and Road Initiative was announced in 2013. The project which initially spanned between Asia and Europe opened up a sea route, as well as including countries from all of the continents. In 2019, China has signed cooperational documents with 126 countries and 29 international organizations.

However, Chinese Belt & Road investments are slowing down. The value of new projects across the countries fell 13 percent in 2018 and is expected to decrease further in 2019. The reason for this is two-fold: Tighter financial control is forcing Chinese construction firms to become more risk-averse, whereas host countries are becoming less willing to devote itself into China-based lending. Furthermore, a majority of the strongest economic powers, such as the European Union, are still reluctant to join in, with the exception of Italy joining in May 2019, the first G7 country and major European economy that was added to the list.

At this event we are delving into the stories of the Belt & Road. Our panelists have deep experience in doing business from the Chinese side under the Belt & Road Initiative. They will share how being a part of the initiative affected other countries and the possibilities of doing business. Additionally, we will take a look at other cases where the collaboration with China and Belt & Road has had a profitable outcome.
