Associate Partner at Asia Perspective

Sam Li is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s strategy, team and operations across Asia Perspective’s offices in China.

Sam brought with him over 20 years’ experience leading and advising organizations to achieve their expansion goals in the Chinese market. Over the years, Sam has acquired extensive hands-on experience in cross border negotiation and JV formation, corporate and business unit strategy, M&A due diligence, operational performance improvement and transformation. Sam has worked across a number of industries including Healthcare, Energy, Industrial Goods & Services, Industrial Machinery, Telecommunications, Utilities & Renewable.

Before joining Asia Perspective, Sam held the position of Managing Director for Mideaux Power Technology. He has also served several firm leadership roles including General Manager of business unit, Sales and Marketing Director, Group Audit Manager and Business controller for SKF Group China.

Sam holds an MBA from BI Norwegian Business School (Norway) as well as a BS in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation from East China University of Science and Technology (China). He also received executive training from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).

Throughout his career Sami has advised leading industrial actors in the fields of mining and metals, and lifting equipment for various global projects. He has also served as lead counsel in numerous high-profile disputes in China and around the world, and has conducted demanding cross-jurisdictional investigations. He has also helped various companies create strategy-based global compliance and integrity risk management systems to manage and investigate e.g. fraud, anti-trust, and corruption allegations.

Sami also has advised globally operating companies in stakeholder identification, counterparty due diligence, and related risk mitigation.

Before joining Asia Perspective Sami led global legal affairs and compliance operations at Outotec, acted as senior legal advisor at Outokumpu and Konecranes, and advised international clients in compliance and integrity risk management at a leading Nordic law firm. Sami holds a Master degree in Law from the University of Helsinki and is admitted to the Finnish Bar. He also holds a diploma from the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Sami is business fluent in English, French, and Finnish, and conversational in Swedish.
